Ok, I'm in a bit of a quirky mood right now, but I've used this rule for the last couple of weeks and it seems to be working for me as I try to maintain my sanity.
Before entering into a political discussion, I simply ask one question and depending on the answer I jump in or decide to leave it alone.
Here it is: Do you think you are smarter than Kellyanne Conway?
1. If the answer is 'yes', then I listen and offer my views and perspectives.
2. If the answer is 'no', I respectfully disengage from the conversation.
3. If the response is, "Who is Kellyanne Conway", I say nothing and walk away.

Smarter? Possibly, but there's something else going on with her besides a possible lack of intelligence. She has often responded to a question before the question being asked is complete-anticipating her response ahead of knowing the full extent of the question. She talks over others and not allows the completion of their sentence or train of thought. She is very argumentative and disagreeable and seems to almost always have an excuse or alibi for what is said by Trump or others involved in the transition team. Kellyanne is not a great or even good public relations person and although she may be very bright and have lots of smarts she is a failure as a spokesperson for the Trump organization and they might want to keep her away from the media after his coronation. Not a simple yes or no, Fred and I welcome your thoughts.

Kellyanne is plenty smart.
She just sold her soul.

Can you explain, Goose? Are you referring, for instance, to her becoming involved with Trump in any way?

Exactly. She is bought and paid for, a servant of Trump. And she will happily use her intelligence to explain away any lie that her master tells. If that means saying that red is really blue on Monday, and red is really green on Tuesday, she is more than happy to do it.
What a waste of life.

Well, I contend that if she really believes what she is saying, then she's not that sharp. Right now, I'm not giving her the benefit of the doubt. If she really does have more cerebral horsepower than I sense she has, making excuses, clarifying Trump's tweets, explaining what he really meant, etc. will wear her down.
Imagine for a moment being the spokesperson for Donald Trump. Who would want that job?

"Do you think you are smarter than Kellyanne Conway?"
That's a tough one Fred. She is a former New Jersey Blueberry Princess. She graduated magna cum laude in political science in 1989 from Trinity College, Washington, D.C. (now Trinity Washington University), where she was also Phi Beta Kappa, she earned a J.D. with honors in 1992 from the George Washington University Law School and then clerked for a judge in Washington, D.C. So, it looks like she's book smart. She, and others like Mike Luntz, Laura Ingraham, and Ann Coulter formed and participated in various polling and political punditry programs. She worked as an advisor to such political heavyweights as Fred Thompson, Jack Kemp, Dan Quayle, Newt Gingerich, and Mike Pence. In early 2016 Kellyanne threw her support behind Ted Cruz and became one of his staunchest supporters, heading up a PAC and raising money to support his nomination for the Republican presidential campaign. While working for Cruz, she called Trump "extreme" and "not a conservative." On January 25, 2016, Conway criticized Trump as "a man who seems to be offending his way to the nomination." On January 26, Conway criticized Trump's use of eminent domain, saying "Donald Trump has literally bulldozed over the little guy to get his way."
But in mid-June 2016 Cruz dropped out of the race and Conway shifted her PAC and renamed it the "Defeat Crooked Hillary PAC". By July 1, 2016, the Trump campaign, under strong advisement by Mike Pence, named her to a senior advisor to the campaign in order to better appeal to women voters. She was later named as the Trump campaign's third campaign manager. After the election Kellyanne proclaimed that she could have any job she wanted in the Trump White House . . . working for the same guy she declared to be extreme, offensive, not conservative, and a bully 5 months earlier.
So, this Blueberry Princess, college graduate with several degrees, and political operative has some smarts. But, when she drastically changes her mind and position on issues in order to reap some personal benefit, and appears on TV and at speaking engagements trying to explain and defend 'pivots', ridiculous, offensive, unfounded tweets, and obvious discrepancies by her and her twitter addicted boss, she turns into a back pedaling, irrational, I can talk louder than you and you're stupid, self centered, blithering idiot.
So . . . Yeah . . . I think I'm smarter than Kellyanne Conway.
I hope I explained my position adequately.

I bet its lucrative. Unbelievably so.
And, being on TV every day is great prep work for a show on Fox.
So what if you help an authoritarian clown?
Kellyanne's deficit is not in intelligence, but rather character.
