Re: Trump, 2014

............ and Donald Trump and republicans don't lie, and that's the reason why they won so many House and Senate seats along with the presidential election?

Of course Trump lies, he's just a holdover until the next Presidential election.  He kept Hillary Clinton out of office, and that is what is most important.  But, Trump didn't promise all of us that we will see a $2500 reduction in our health insurance premiums.  That's a pretty big lie that people don't forget, and it has consequences.

Re: Trump, 2014

So, a guy - in two years - goes from Russia is our biggest geopolitical foe to colluding with them.
And we are so desperate to avoid discussing it that we are going to pivot to discussing what someone else thought about same sex marriage?

That is what you came up with, el Hombre?
Seriously?
I think that everyone in the room is less intelligent for having to read that lame attempt to hijack a thread.

Goose, you said I don't matter.  Why are you responding to my posts if I don't matter?

And you couldn't possibly get less intelligent.  We all know that.

You just don't have the horsepower upstairs to even understand what I'm getting at.
Not a problem.

CNN is having a big day.

The network has uncovered interviews Donald trump gave to Fox and NBC in 2014 in which the president-elect states that he agrees with Mitt Romney is our "Number one geopolitical foe", and makes statements supporting sanctions in response to Russian aggression in Ukraine.

"There are things we could do to hurt Russia economically"
"We should definitely do sanctions"

Imagine that.

A rather jarring change in worldview.
What could explain it?
Any ideas?

It's not unusual though. Obama's stance on gay marriage changed as he was president, so did his promise that everyone would save $2500 a year on their health insurance. All presidents do that.

Obama even before his Presidency while running for his first term in the Illinois State Senate, Obama signed a questionnaire in which he answered that he "favored legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages." The questionnaire came to light in 2009, days before Obama's inauguration.

Obama openly stated that he had qualms of how to square his belief in peoples rights to marriage vs his and others religious views on the subject. I suspect that divide is still with him.

As far as changing his mind about the savings on health insurance, there is a big difference between changing your mind and things not working out. I believe you know that too.

We can revist this whole thing in 4 years and just see how many of Trumps views change DURING his Presidency. I expect we will see a boatload.

You're right he didn't change his mind, he outright lied, and that is a big reason why democrats have lost so many seats in the House and Senate and Hillary lost the Presidential election.

I agree that in general for a lot of people the $2500 was not correct and he never promised it for all people if you check that actual statement. In an event the program did not produce as expected, but for some it WAS a saving and for some much more than the $2500. Here is the Kaiser Health calculator and I plugged in a family of 4 making $50000 with 2 adults and 2 children and the savings was substantial.
