Trump Team May Move West Wing Briefings to Expand Capacity

Seems like a good idea to expand the pool of people reporting White House activities.
From 50 to 100's. Of course the 50 who have the White House address are very unhappy about a possible move.

Pence says tremendous interest in covering new administration
Chief of staff says current briefing room will be overwhelmedThe incoming Trump administration is considering moving White House press briefings out of the West Wing to accommodate more than the “Washington media elite,” President-elect Donald Trump’s press secretary said.

“This is about greater accessibility, more people in the process,” Sean Spicer said Sunday on Fox News Channel’s “Media Buzz.” Involving more people, including bloggers and others who aren’t from the mainstream media, “should be seen as a welcome change,” he said.Spicer and other Trump officials said no decisions had been made.

Their comments followed a report Saturday by Esquire, citing unidentified officials from the transition team, that the new administration may move the press corps out of the main White House building altogether because of antagonism between Trump and the media.Any change would be made for logistical reasons, in response to heavy demand from media organizations, Vice President-elect Mike Pence said Sunday.

So he's kicking the press out of the west wing and trying to sell it by putting lipstick on a pig.

So much for transparency

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

I'm not surprised he wants the press corps out of the White House--that is way too close to him considering how he has publicly stated a dislike for the media.

What difference does it make where Trump puts the press? His 'press conferences', from the way he's performed so far, are going to be more like lecture sessions. He spouts off about the latest subjects that tick him off, blames someone or something for those, makes a couple of really vague statements about things he's going to make 'terrific without giving any specifics, tries to embarrass a couple of reporters, doesn't answer any questions, and says 'that's it' and leaves.

Who needs the press when you can get the whole truth on important matters if you follow Trump's twitter account.

It's going to be an interesting 4 years.

To say the least !

Post-election, there are two institutions Trump has attacked more than any other. The media and the intelligence community.

My theory for this is because those are the two groups where he can't control his message.

This isn't surprising, but I also think moving the press corps across the street doesn't remove a whole lot of transparency. Remember, a lot of people in the press thought Obama was the least accessible president in history.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump
