Passport Required For PA Residents

Because our inglorious leaders in the legislature passed a no-vote to upgrade PA licenses as required by the feds we will soon need passports to fly, say, from HIA to Pittsburgh, Philly, Allentown, DC, Miami and so on.  Thanks, idiots!

Re: Passport Required For PA Residents

So, our more expensive driver's licenses, due to the recently announced increased fees, don't comply with federal regulations? Great work by our state legislators. I would bet that 1/2 of them aren't even aware of the federal requirements.

Maybe if they'd have gone ahead with voter ID's, we'd be in compliance. What a bunch of bozos!

When the ban, known as Act 38, was signed into law in 2012, lawmakers said they were preventing the state from taking on an unfunded mandate and protecting residents' privacy. Then-Gov. Tom Corbett's decision to sign the bill was also hailed by groups like the American Civil Liberties Union.

My hope is that another waiver will be granted.

Yes, because our state legislators are excellent at 'kicking the can down the road'. That's easier than actually sitting down and formulating a solution. They should do their jobs and negotiate a compliant plan before the need for another extension. Eventually, the waivers will end. Then what will they do?

Well, my passport is good until 2020, so I guess I'm all set.

I don't think they kicked the can down the road they are not going to comply!

Re: Passport Required For PA Residents

What is PA's issue?

If the state won't comply with security guidelines, I do not want to share an airliner with its residents unless they supply a passport.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Passport Required For PA Residents

You won't have to Goose.  without a passport PA residents won't be on a plane you're flying on.  I wonder if other states have chosen to comply or not or as usual is it just PA that is the trouble maker?
