OH THE IRONY
Mitch McConnell now says the American people 'will not tolerate' politicians blocking a Supreme Court nominee
January 4, 2017
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has apparently moved on from blocking Supreme Court nominees now that Republicans are in charge. At a press conference Wednesday, McConnell scoffed at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's (D-N.Y.) suggestion that Democrats would oppose the GOP's nominee "tooth and nail" if they "don't appoint someone who's really good."
"I think that's something the American people simply will not tolerate," McConnell said, noting that while it's okay to block a nominee for the entirety of a president's last year in office — effectively forcing his nominee out of the running — it's a step too far to not confirm a nominee "at all."

The most annoying thing about all of this was the absolute predictability of it.
You knew the senators would basically hand over the talking points they had used in the previous year to the other side and just go from there.
And the cycle of dysfunction continues.
I loathe our federal elected officials.

Yes, it's a depressing little dance here on the fruited plain, isn't it?
The senate trades positions on Supreme court nominees.
The parties have already reversed their opinions on the filibuster.
The heartland is now talking about coming together, and the Northeast is in love with states' rights.
A cyber Criminal that Donald Trump thought should be executed in 2010 now is his most trusted hacking and Russia advisor.
Texas is now loyal and sane, while there is a nascent and nutty secession movement in California.
Rush Limbaugh was going to move to Costa Rica in 2008. He's staying, while Barbara Streisand is threatening to move to Canada.
What a self-involved bunch of schmuck's we've become.
If the founding fathers were here, I think they'd slap us upside the head.

Until our elected officials understand that they are elected to represent the people and not the party, this kind of conflict, blame, confrontation, stalemate, and obstructionism will continue.
Without the involvement of the voters through making their voices heard on issues, dissatisfaction with partisan politics over constituent needs, and ultimately using their power at the ballot box to invoke change, the status quo will remain.
