Kasich signs 17 bills, including concealed-carry expansion

Ohio Gov. John Kasich today took a stab at clearing his desk of some of the mountain of bills passed by the frantic lame-duck session of the General Assembly. The second-term Republican signed 17 bills into law largely crafted by the GOP majority in the House and Senate.Among the bills signed by Kasich were measures to:--

Allow Ohioans with concealed-carry permits to carry guns on college campuses and other locations, if local authorities approve. Active-duty military also can carry guns without permits. (Am. Sub. SB 199).

Yea, pretty typical year end tying up of loose ends.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

I wonder if you're able to conceal carry your favorite handgun into the state capital building or the governor's mansion?

You know . . . The public houses of the people.

No, no, no!  That would be too dangerous.  Much safer to carry heat to a nightclub, bar, or an Ohio State vs Michigan football game in Columbus.

My fraternity house would have been great place for some guns.
Young men. Alcohol. Firearms.
Pretty great combination.

Yeah . . . Too dangerous for the people that drafted and passed the legislation to protect the "peoples' rights" . . . As long as it doesn't impinge upon the lawmakers' personal safety.

What a bunch of contradictory, underhanded, inconsiderate bozos.

I believe the important part of this legislation is the section highlighted in blue, "if local authorities approve".

I see no problem in allowing local authorities and private individuals not allowing concealed carry permits, if they so choose.  If this interpretation is correct, OSU could still ban this on their campus.
