The thing that makes very good comedy (especially political) is both the actors and the relevance (which is a testament to the writers). SNL has been spot-on for both for quite a while. The downside to SNL at this point is that now that the election is over most comedy will be directed to the President elect (and later President). I am sure the Trump supporters do not see some of the same humor in these skits that Democrats and Independents might see a and that is I guess just the way it is.
I do note that many late night night comics (I don't see them too much anymore as I am normally sacked out by then), but when I DID watch more, comics like Leno were adept at skewering BOTH sides of the aisle which is good because both "teams" can still get a chuckle.

Yes, the guy who sits in the big chair will get most of the attention from comedians.
Just the way it is. I still laugh when I think of Dana Carvey and Will Farrel impersonating the two Bushes.
My understanding is that George HW Bush thought that Dana was hilarious.
Trump is not getting off to the same start with his doppelganger

First thing first, it's always good to see John Goodman make an appearance of SNL.
While the opening skit was good, I thought the "Hillary Actually" skit that appeared later in the show was far funnier. I didn't get the premise, meaning that I didn't know that it was a spoof on the movie, "Love Actually", but it was a really well written and very well performed bit.

Phil Hartman's Bill Clinton was pretty darn good too.

If you didn't catch SNL's "One Last Christmas with Barack Obama" you should. Hysterical.
