So basically we are giving them money to stay and automate and further lay off more workers.

Every time I read things like this, it reminds me of the Budweiser Brewery in Jacksonville that I visit from time to time when we are in Florida and reinforces that many manufacturing jobs are lost eventually NOT to cheap labor but to automation. There were VERY FEW laborers anywhere to be seen Obviously they need specialists to work on the machines, but a scant fraction of what used to be needed. Same thing at our local Harley plant as you compare just a couple of years ago to current and see all the welding jobs replaced by robots.
