NFL great Brown on meeting Trump: 'He's got my admiration'
NFL legend Jim Brown stopped by Trump Tower Tuesday for a meeting pegged as a discussion about issues facing the African-American community, and he came away from the gathering with the President-elect having his admiration."When he goes through what he went through to become the president, he got my admiration," Brown said. "No one gave him a chance."

Maybe Jim Brown would be a good choice to spearhead the "Black Lives Matter" movement for the President-elect? What we need is a few more celebrities getting involved in the "USA Presidential Reality Show". Sorta of a new twist on the 'Celebrity Apprentice'. Don't laugh. This could be big.
Picture this: George Forman grilling weenies on the White House lawn this summer for poor kids in DC.

Jim Brown has been a leading activist in the civil rights and African American community for several decades. I think it is fair to say his opinion on matters such as this carry more weight than a typical athlete or celebrity. All his work in the community has earned him that.

Jim Brown was a great football player, but as far as being a respectful social activist, he has some problems on his record.

The following two paragraphs from the article you quoted seem salient:
Jim Brown is one of the greatest American athletes of all time and a genuinely important social figure who played crucial roles in the fight for civil rights and in opening up space for athletes to speak out as citizens. His part in the 1967 Cleveland summit that led to the Black Economic Union cannot be ignored. His ongoing work with inner-city gang members remains relevant. He continues to advocate for change.
These two images of Brown—champion of civil rights, abuser of women—are not in conflict. The dichotomy is if anything consistent with the research on domestic violence, which makes clear that abusers aren’t monsters every waking minute of their lives and can be, to the outside world, the most upstanding members of any community. Similarly, a rapist can be the exact picture of what’s considered a fine model citizen until getting caught (as shown by Brock Turner). You’ll rarely, though, see a journalist taking the time to unpack or even describe just what Brown has been accused of over the years while heaping praise on him for helping his fellow man. Instead, they act like it never happened.
It seems fair to me to congratulate him for his work in the African American community and also condemn him for his treatment of women.

Yes, it is an interesting dichotomy . . . That someone like Trump would easily embrace.

I've always had a lot of respect for Jim Brown and still do. I don't think he would be the kind of guy to suck up to power just for the sake of sucking up to power.
Would have loved to be a fly on the wall to hear the conversation between him and Trump.
