Pat just remembers the tragedy in the light of his NRA benefactors rather than the lives of the children, teachers, and families tragically impacted by this mass shooting.
Allentown, Pa. — U.S. Senator Pat Toomey has released the following statement in honor and remembrance of the 26 children and school employees who were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School four years ago today:
“Four years ago, twenty young children and six school employees were shot and killed at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. It was a terrible day for our country, and meeting some of the families of the victims was one of the most moving moments in my Senate career. These senseless killings also inspired me to work across the aisle on common sense gun safety legislation that upholds the Second Amendment while also making it harder for criminals and the dangerously mentally ill to purchase a firearm. I remain committed to this cause and look forward to working with Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) again next Congress on our background check proposal.”
What a dick !

I have absolutely zero issue with that statement from Senator Toomey. His first two sentences indicated he remembers the children, teachers and their families and how horrible it was.
As an FYI, it seems the NRA isn't a huge fan of Toomey since they only "graded" him a "C" on gun control issues. It is good to see a legislator actually working across the aisle with someone on bi-partisan legislation. I'm glad he was re-elected in PA, he deserved it.

The statement was rather self-serving rather than being centered on the victims

Toomey is a classless act.

I don't know where you get your information on Toomey. I tend to go to ontheissues.org that reflects the actual voting record of politicians. Here is a synopsis of Toomey's record with his rating by the NRA:
Pat Toomey on Gun Control
Voted YES on prohibiting suing gunmakers & sellers for gun misuse.
Voted YES on decreasing gun waiting period from 3 days to 1.
Rated A by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun rights voting record.
Rated A by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun rights voting record.
Toomey scores A by NRA on pro-gun rights policies
While widely recognized today as a major political force and as America's foremost defender of Second Amendment rights, the National Rifle Association (NRA) has, since its inception, been the premier firearms education organization in the world. But our successes would not be possible without the tireless efforts and countless hours of service our nearly three million members have given to champion Second Amendment rights and support NRA programs.

The following ratings are based on lifetime voting records on gun issues and the results of a questionaire sent to all Congressional candidates; the NRA assigned a letter grade (with A+ being the highest and F being the lowest).

It came from the following Allentown Morning Call article from October 5, 2016
You might want to check your source, I just went to ontheissues.org and it was last updated his NRA "grade" on December 31, 2003. Your source is 13 years old!

I think the best course of action for now is to remember those children who lost their lives and their parents and families who had to go through a pain and loss that I can't even pretend to imagine.
