Two bomb blasts near an Istanbul stadium after a soccer match ended killed 38 people and wounded 155 others in an attack that appeared to target police, Turkey's interior minister and officials said.Thirty of the dead are police officers, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said in an address early Sunday.

Deputy Prime minister Numan Kurtulmus declared a day of mourning, as he confirmed thirteen people have so-far been detained in connection with the attackThe first bomb exploded at around 10:30 p.m. as law enforcement left the newly built Vodafone Arena Stadium, where home side Besiktas were playing Bursaspor, Turkish security forces said.Soylu called the bombings a "cruel plot," NBC's British partner ITV News reported.

The first blast, which took place on a hill overlooking the stadium, is believed to have been a car bomb, Soylu told reporters. The car bomb was detonated by remote control, Soylu said. The second explosion struck Macka Park and was believed to be a suicide bomb."We have once again witnessed tonight in Istanbul the ugly face of terror which tramples on every value and decency," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a statement.Of the 155 injured, 14 were in intensive care and five of those victims were in critical condition, Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

And then this

St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo bombed, killing dozens

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/st-marks-coptic-orthodox-cathedral-cairo-bombed-killing-dozens/

CAIRO - A bombing at Egypt’s main Coptic Christian cathedral killed 25 people and wounded another 35 on Sunday, in one of the deadliest attacks carried out against the religious minority in recent memory. The attack came two days after a bomb elsewhere in Cairo killed six policemen, an assault claimed by a shadowy group that authorities say is linked to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood. Islamic militants have targeted Christians in the past, including a New Year’s Day bombing at a church in Alexandria in 2011 that killed at least 21 people.

Egypt’s official MENA news agency said an assailant lobbed a bomb into a chapel close to the outer wall of St Mark’s Cathedral, seat of Egypt’s Orthodox Christian church and home to the office of its spiritual leader, Pope Tawadros II. Egyptian state TV gave the casualty toll.Witnesses said the explosion may have been caused by an explosive device planted inside the chapel. Conflicting accounts are common in the immediate aftermath of attacks.

The blast took place as a Sunday mass being held in the chapel was about to end and coincided with a national holiday in Egypt marking the birth of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. Most of the victims are thought to be women and children. An Associated Press reporter who arrived at the scene shortly after the blast saw blood-stained pews and shards of glass scattered across the chapel’s floor. Men and women wailed and cried outside.“I found bodies, many of them women, lying on the pews. It was a horrible scene,” said cathedral worker Attiya Mahrous, who rushed to the chapel after he heard the blast. His clothes and hands were stained with blood and his hair matted with dust.

General Pershing dealt harshly with Muslim terrorists in the Philipines.   He executed all but one of a group his troops had captured....threw them in a mass grave along with pig entrails.   He released the one "survivor".    No more attack after that.

You really think that is the answer nowadays ?

Many of these are lone wolf terrorist attacks and sometimes the people are not even know as pretty much in the case of these two reports.

On top of that, the story might not even be true.

Even if it were true,,,,,,,,
Carry out summary executions of prisoners?
The Nazis did that at Malmedy in 1944. Killed 84 GIs.
It did NOT have the effect on the American fighting man that Germans had hoped for.
Just sayin'.

Also, these Islamic Terrorists believe that their murderous bastards are "martyrs", and so pure that the soul went to paradise and was unaffected by any taint to the body.
So, desecrating their graves is, in my opinion, much more likely to inflame Muslims and help with recruiting than it is to frighten them into inactivity.

Pershing's method was harsh, but it ended the Islamic terror in the Philippines during the US occupation.

Vlad the Impaler used even harsher methods but they turned back the Islamic invaders from Belgrade in the 15th Century.

It didn't happen.
Other than that, it was really, really great.
I am not sure that our foreign policy should emulate tough sounding things that didn't even happen.
But, hey, that's just me.

And, we are going to use Vlad the Impaler as a role model?
Not, Jefferson, Adams, Paine, Hobbes, Augustine, or Christ.
Vlad the Impaler. Dracula.
Seriously? I'm incredulous.
We're that uncertain about our values?
