In 2005 historian Doris Kearns Goodwin published a best selling book entitled Team of Rivals, describing the cabinet of Abraham Lincoln.
When Donald Trump named establishment dude Reince Preibus, and anti-establishment dude, Steve Bannon as advisors, a reporter speculated that Trump might be constructing his own Team of Rivals.
An interesting thought. But far from certain, far from earth shattering.
But, soon After that, a perfect example of the media echo chamber came to light.
Nearly every news outlet on the planet started parroting the term, Team of Rivals
Go ahead. Google "Trump Team of Rivals".

How much reporting and analysis actually goes on in the media anymore? Looks to me like they are all copying the first catchy thing that they hear. Like the Latino surge.
The media suffers from group think, and the herd mentality. All of them.

The public is just as much to blame for the demise as the press itself. Look how many people really do not try to fact check in an form what they see or read that is passed of as "news".
