Re: Voter turnout at 20-year low in 2016

I don't think that the other polls are going away.
They will analyze, look at faults in methodology, maybe 'borrow ' some ideas from USC.
But they aren't going anywhere.

There's a big market in predicting

You're correct, I worded it wrongly.  They won't go away, but no one will take them seriously or care what they have to say.  Anyone can make up their own poll, doesn't mean people will care about it.

I agree, but I think those using them will be more skeptical.

Also many groups STILL want and need state by state polling to help them in the state campaigns. Again, the polls need to get much more accurate than they were this time. IF Trump cannot really do what he hopes there STILL will be many millions dissatisfied and disenfranchised voters. I WILL say IF we can get two candidates that are acceptable to the voting public and IF they actually discuss the issues, I think the polls will be much more accurate.

Re: Voter turnout at 20-year low in 2016

As of Saturday, Clinton had a lead in the popular vote of 1.8 million.

I'm not one of those who are denying that Trump won. He is the legitimate victor of the election as our rules describe.

But, Trump won a victory, not a mandate.
He stands at the top of a bitterly divided nation.

If he doesn't find some way to build bridges it will be a Pyrrhic victory.
And we will ALL suffer the consequences.
I know how much fun gloating is. But Stop, and start reaching out.
Not for my sake, but for yours.

As Trump is finding out, NOW it is time to govern ALL the people. I think it will be difficult for him to turn off his temperament and if he cannot reign it in there will be very rough sledding for the next 4 years as a nation. I am praying for the best. We all should be.

Re: Voter turnout at 20-year low in 2016

Not so sure that some of the people entering the Trump inner circle (Bannon in particular) will help heal any divides in either the R vs D divide or even the internal problems of the GOP itself. If we cannot bring some sense of unity in 4 years we will either see more people turned off from voting OR a massive ground swell against what propelled Trump into the Presidency this time.

Celebrate before the fact then snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
