The cost for Trump's wall will likely be about $50 Billion dollars to the taxpayer (unless Mr Trump can actually get Mexico to pay for it which is unlikely). Now, that said would we be better off to beef up what we have with extra things like drone surveillance, extra border patrols, etc and use the excess to increase our security in other vulnerable spots nationally against terrorism ? 

Remember we have two huge borders in the US and only one really gets a lot of attention. We have tightened up on port and transit security but still much to do along with guarding our national infrastructure against terrorism.
