The bipartisan Malady?

Is Smugness.

The retiring President's agenda has been repudiated by an electorate hungry for change.
The new President will have his party in control of both houses of Congress.
The opposition party is in disarray.
Looks like it's over.

November 2016?
Try November 2008.

Obama won a victory larger than trump's. He had an unstoppable majority in Congress.
Then he lost it a mere two years later.

Can't happen to you?
Right. You've taken your country back. It's over.
Take heed, Republicans. When majorities aren't cared for, they fall apart.
So far, I'm seeing a definite trend towards smugness and gloating. Hehe.
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Trump won an impressive victory in the electoral college. Yep, he won fair and square and is our next President.
However, the popular vote is nearly even.
We are a divided nation. You need to deal with that, heal that, or you victory will be ephemeral.
So, what will the victors do? Reach out to others? Double down on the divisiveness?
There seems to be nothing quite so fleeting as political advantage.

Hey, republicans, enjoy your victory.
But, I would suggest that you start to move on from insulting liberals, trashing protestors, dancing on the bodies of your enemies in "the MSM".
You are no longer rock throwers sitting on the back bench. You own this.
Roll up your sleeves and work. Stop fighting the last war.

You need to start reaching out to people to grow your movement, and you need to start making government work for the people who elected you. Wages, security, healthcare, and so on.
If you fail to do that, in the wink of an eye people will turn, and start laughingly referring to your promises as,,,,,
"Hopey, Changey Stuff".

Good luck.

For over a thousand years, Roman conquerors returning from the wars enjoyed the honor of a triumph - a tumultuous parade. In the procession came trumpeters and musicians and strange animals from the conquered territories, together with carts laden with treasure and captured armaments. The conqueror rode in a triumphal chariot, the dazed prisoners walking in chains before him. Sometimes his children, robed in white, stood with him in the chariot, or rode the trace horses.

A slave stood behind the conqueror, holding a golden crown, and whispering in his ear a warning: that all glory is fleeting.

Maybe Trump's visit to the White House today will instill in him the awful weight of his responsibilities.
And some humility

Re: The bipartisan Malady?

If you're a Democrat and ever thought about running for Congress, now is the time to start planning.

Historically speaking, 2018 House seats should be easy pickin's for Dems.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump

Re: The bipartisan Malady?

My district is already represented by a democrat, so sadly I will have to wait four years and run for president.
Don't laugh. I have no governmental experience and a history of insulting people on the Internet.
In other words, I'm perfect.
Now, what did I do with Kellyanne's phone number?
