Re: Is the election going to totally spook the markets ?

In the 20th century, the United States endured two world wars and other traumatic and expensive military conflicts; the Depression; a dozen or so recessions and financial panics; oil shocks; a flu epidemic; and the resignation of a disgraced president.

Yet the Dow rose from 66 to 11,497.

DOW is positive for the day at 11:30 AM. That is a good thing. Still going to be some rough sledding this next 6 months. Stay on the protective side with investments till you see how things shake out.

Single day performance really doesn't tell us much.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

I think the biggest concern from a finance/economics level is in the long term.

In January, the Republicans will hold the White House, Senate, and House.

Remember where we ended up the last time there was end to end GOP control (2003-2007)

Correct. The real test will be from Jan ->  June of 2017.
