Re: Election Day Diary

Dow futures down about 400 points right now

Re: Election Day Diary

Nate Silver futures should be down as well

Re: Election Day Diary

Wow, five hours ago Nate gave Clinton a 71% chance of victory. And the NYT gave her an 85% chance.
Just now the Times gives Trump a 58% chance of victory.

Next time I will ask my dog for predictions.

Re: Election Day Diary

Trump just won Missouri.

Trump winning counties in Michigan that Obama won.

North Carolina Republicans just retained their Senate seat.

My gut is telling me that we're looking at a President Trump you guys.

Re: Election Day Diary

This is a pretty entertaining election night so far, although I'm sure the networks planned it to be.  So far, every called state is as expected. They're saving the battleground states for last to call.  Gotta keep people watching.

Re: Election Day Diary

If Trump wins, does that mean stocks will be on sale tomorrow?

Yeah. Personally I think the markets are overreacting. And they'll bounce back once they adjust to the new reality.

Remember, everyone thought, and still thinks, Obama was going to/has ruined the economy.

And the economy has kicked ass since 2009. And mostly, it had little to do with the government.

Free markets will trump, Trump.

You don't have to watch the networks. You can go to the state websites and the aggregators like Politico. That's pure raw data.

Re: Election Day Diary

It is really going to be a nailbiter. Right now if I had to guess I would think Trump is going to pull this thing off. Not good news for the markets or peoples 401Ks or those on the ACA, but if that is the will of the people then we will have to live with it. The interesting thing IF Trump wins is how he will pull off all his claims of what he is going to do. Personally I think there will be a lot of disappointment all around on that note.

We will know tomorrow morning (hopefully) just how this whole thing worked out.

It will be amusing when the wall, the mining jobs, etc don't magically appear.
