Re: Electoral College Predictions

Slightly off topic, but Evan McMullin's candidacy is gaining some attention due to his strong showing in Utah. It's no surprise, as he is Mormon and Utah is a Mormon-heavy state. But his polling has looked great recently and he might bring home some electoral college votes.

Would a strong showing in Utah give hesitant Trump voters in other states a reason to switch? If so, does this turn into a movement with staying power? It will be interesting to watch it unfold.

Re: Electoral College Predictions

Im not sure how many states he was successful in getting on the ballot in.
A movement? That would be a welcome development

Re: Electoral College Predictions

McMullin's stated goal was to do what he could to keep Trump from winning and to give #NeverTrump'ers a candidate to vote for. He made the ballot in  Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, New Mexico, South Carolina, Utah, and Virginia.

There won't be any sort of McMullin movement after the election, but it would be a huge embarrassment for Trump if he were to lose Utah to him.

Re: Electoral College Predictions

Right. I wasn't thinking so much of a McMullin movement, but more of a movement toward either rebuilding the Republican Party or getting some big names and donors to branch off to a new party...maybe it doesn't go nationwide right away, but Utah is ripe for the pickin' and if Utah goes then I could see a couple more midwestern states start to swing that direction.
