One of the most damaging hurricanes of recent times. Were any of you or your friends impacted by hurricane Matthew ?

A brother who lives on Pawley's Island and evacuated to a hotel in Florence a 100 miles away was without lights or food for a few days. There are still no lights but last I checked he discovered a waffle House was opened when seeing employees from there come into the hotel to use its bathrooms. He found out from them they were opened but serving only a limited menu. He wasn't able to drive anywhere because the roads are washed out and it may be some time until he's able to return home. Pawley's Island I believe sits on a barrier island so who knows how much damage is done there. Ironically, we've learned from a resident who did not evacuate that Pawley's Island has electricity.
Wanted to add--my sister, niece and her boyfriend evacuated West Palm Beach to Sarasota and are now back home. As you may know Palm Beach County escaped the wrath of Matthew and my niece said it looks like the area never lost its electricity.

A number of years ago our H.S. classmates decided to try to make sure we all enrolled in Facebook and many did. A number of them got caught in the wake of Hurricane Matthew but fortunately made it through without any major catastrophes.
I saw the town that we now spend 2 months in the winter (St Augustine) succumb to the ravages of Matthew. It was hit hard, but not as bad as some of the areas to the immediate South such as Flagler Beach. St Augustine has a wonderful history being the oldest city in the US and will bounce back as it has for years.
