Save the GOP. Put Pence at the top of the Ticket

It's time for Donald Trump to drop out.
It's time for this madness to end.

Political world reacts with outrage to Trump's comments about women

Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah: "Donald Trump is a distraction. It's time for him to step aside so we can focus on the winning ideas that will carry Republicans through to a victory in November."
Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah: "I can no longer endorse Donald Trump for the presidency. I will not vote for Hillary Clinton for President. This is so abhorrent and offensive."

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.: "There are no excuses for Donald Trump’s offensive and demeaning comments. No woman should ever be victimized by this kind of inappropriate behavior. He alone bears the burden of his conduct and alone should suffer the consequences."

Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill. (via Twitter): ".@realDonaldTrump should drop out. @GOP should engage rules for emergency replacement."

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert (via Twitter): "Donald Trump's statements are beyond offensive & despicable. While I cannot vote for Hillary Clinton, I will not vote for Trump."

Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney (via Twitter): "Hitting on married women? Condoning assault? Such vile degradations demean our wives and daughters and corrupt America's face to the world."

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (via Twitter): "As the grandfather of two precious girls, I find that no apology can excuse away Donald Trump's reprehensible comments degrading women."

All of this is well and good, but the tribal members of the party have spoken via the primary.  Donald Trump is their choice for POTUS.  He is their choice to be the face and leader of the tribe that will "make America great again".

They(and we as the voting public) have made their own bed, now they have to LIE in it (pun intended).

The people who just wanted to "blow up" the status quo without regard to what it gets replaced with have learned something:
Self immolation is painful!

And I believe some don't care.

The last minute scramble by some members of the GOP to save the 2016 presidential election is just that, a scramble.  Sometimes it's a better game plan to bite the bullet and rebuild for the future.  I would suggest they do that ............... let Trump get sacked in the November election, look at the game tape that got them in this mess, figure out where they went wrong, and correct the game plan for 2020.

The GOP does not have a great record when it comes to responding to disaster.
After the 2012 loss they famously did an "autopsy", and concluded,
1. The GOP had to have a bigger tent, and reach out to women, Latinos, and Blacks, and
2. They had to stop being the "party of stupid" (Their words, not mine).

But they didn't bank on the base insisting on walking off a cliff with a science denying, misogynist, racist, xenophobe.
The GOP doesn't need a new strategy. The divisions within it are too great. What the GOP  needs to do is to break into two parties.
A fiscally conservative yet socially inclusive party,
and a white nationalist party.

A major political realignment is not just a theoretical premise. The are plenty of historical precedents.
Perhaps most familiar is the Great switch. In the 20th century the Democratic party was typified by a strange coalition of northeastern liberals, and rural southerners who would vote for a yellow dog before supporting the party of Lincoln. With the coming of the Civil Rights movement that coalition became untenable, and the Dixiecrats joined the Republican party.
Today I see the glue holding the various groups in the GOP together as breaking down.

Placing the Trump lapdog on the ticket in place of Trump will certainly glue Hilliary's success.
