Well, all you immigrant hating, talk radio devotees,,,,,, the process of throwing you under the Trump Bus is well underway.
From, that nonpolitician, "honest Guy".
Does anybody really believe a thing he says?
Donald Trump's immigration policy: Then and now
Austin, Texas (CNN)Donald Trump launched his presidential campaign by promising to build a "great, great wall" on the US southern border -- and make Mexico pay for it -- while painting undocumented Mexican immigrants as criminals and rapists.
More than a year later, Trump, now the Republican nominee, is preparing to wade back into the heated immigration debate. This time, though, he appears poised to lay out a more nuanced immigration policy -- one that could roll back some of the unapologetically blunt proposals that helped carry him to victory in the GOP primaries.
"There could certainly be a softening" in his immigration proposals, Trump told Fox News' Sean Hannity Tuesday night, "because we're not looking to hurt people."
But the real estate mogul and his new campaign leadership have dodged questions in recent days about whether Trump will abandon the promises he made on illegal immigration that attracted Republican primary voters to his campaign in droves, notably his promise to deport all estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the US.

So being an asshole isn't as popular as he'd thought?

There would appear to be a ceiling to ahole popularity.
The interesting thing will be watching the Trumpers excuse their master when he backs off of the mass deportations.
I think they will stay with Donald. It will be the "I can shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose any votes" test.
I actually pity those poor folks.

Unless they can come up with some way to blame Clinton.

What's everyone's opinion regarding the immigration problem?
I'm of two minds:
1) Criminals should not get a free pass by sheer weight of numbers. I do not mean 'criminal' in a derogatory sense, I mean it as a classification having one group who are going through the legal immigration process and those who crossed the border contrary to current law.
What about those people in the middle of the legal process? Will they be getting anything out of this? Is it fair? Is is showing preference to criminals?
2) There is no way the Federal Government would be able to round up and deport fifteen-million criminals. It's just not possible. So is amnesty then a preferable concept so the government now knows where they all are.
And aside. I find it very, very odd that no one every says anything about criminal charges against employers. They're the reason people cross the border in the first place. Cut off the funding. Seems fairly obvious to me.
And I'm wondering why.

I just don't see how anyone, especially "small government" fans arrange to apprehend and deport 11-15 million people without employing police state tactics. It is a fantasy.
Of course, drying up the job market might work, but where will republicans get cheap labor that they can employ off the books?

From my perspective, the thought of the U.S. Government organizing a force to go out to locate, identify, round up, and deport somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 million people (nobody is really sure of the number) is an absurd undertaking for many reasons.
And, as I have stated several times, if we truly want to control the influx of illegal immigrants, concentrate efforts on employers that hire workers that are without proper documentation. Just as CT intimated.

They are here for jobs. If the jobs are gone most will need to leave.
