Rhetoric and words DO MATTER especially in this current heated debate about terrorism. It is not a far stretch to think that people like this demented man are susceptible to the hate speech that we are hearing in this current election cycle.
BTW, the deceased was a Christian of Lebanese descent.
Our police and judicial system totally failed this family. Heartbreaking.

It's only going to get worse.
You can't keep whipping people into a frenzy and expect rational behavior.
With religion involved...expect violence.

I don't think that anyone here said that it was ALL Trump's fault.
As a matter of fact, I'm sure of it. In the first post of this thread both the murderer's mental state and the failures of the judicial system were addressed.
The third leg of the stool, The heated rhetoric of the Trump campaign does matter.
Unhinged people hear horrible rhetoric, and the Paranoid style, and the effect on them is not good.
I am so terribly sorry that you won't see that.
After all that we have seen, I have concluded that Trump supporters are morally compromised for their acceptance of this horrible campaign.

Common, no it wasn't Trump's fault. However, Trump's rhetoric has made the fringe racist elements of our society feel ok about their opinions and feelings. This group within our population has always been bubbling under the surface of our culture. Trump simply made them feel 'normal' and perhaps justified with their feelings and actions.
And, Trump knows it. I mean what other presidential candidate could say they could shoot and kill somebody in Times Square, get away with it, and people would still vote for him? Does that say more about him or the people that say they would continue to support him? Secondly, when he announced his run for the R-Tribe nomination, one of the first people to announce support for him was David Duke. What message do you think that sent to white supremacist elements of our society?
Bigots, racists, and sociopaths have existed in cultures and societies since the beginning of time. All they need is someone to help them justify their opinions, feelings, and actions.

Interesting. Apparently The Left can be responsible for inciting violence, but Donald Trump cannot.
How does that work, Common?
Will the Left Accept Responsibility for Attempts on Trump’s Life?
Sorry, but either rhetoric can incite unstable people to violence, or it cannot.
You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
