The Washington Post ran a full-page editorial today, one day after Donald Trump accepted the Republican nomination for president of the United States, spelling out in prolific and profound prose the dangers of a Trump presidency. It was an amazing piece of writing.
Some of the highlights.
‘Donald J. Trump, until now a Republican problem, this week became a challenge the nation must confront and overcome. The real estate tycoon is uniquely unqualified to serve as president, in experience and temperament. He is mounting a campaign of snarl and sneer, not substance. To the extent he has views, they are wrong in their diagnosis of America’s problems and dangerous in their proposed solutions. Mr. Trump’s politics of denigration and division could strain the bonds that have held a diverse nation together. His contempt for constitutional norms might reveal the nation’s two-century-old experiment in checks and balances to be more fragile than we knew […]
‘There is nothing on Mr. Trump’s résumé to suggest he could function successfully in Washington. He was staked in the family business by a well-to-do father and has pursued a career marked by some real estate successes, some failures and Repeated episodes of saving his own hide while harming people who trusted him. Given his continuing refusal to release his tax returns, breaking with a long bipartisan tradition, it is only reasonable to assume there are aspects of his record even more discreditable than what we know.
‘Given his ignorance, it is perhaps not surprising that Mr. Trump offers no coherence when it comes to policy. In years past, he supported immigration reform, gun control and Legal abortion; as candidate, he became a hard-line opponent of all three. Even in the course of the campaign, he has flip-flopped on issues such as whether Muslims should be banned from entering the United States and whether women who have abortions should be punished. Worse than the flip-flops is the absence of any substance in his agenda. Existing Trade deals are “stupid,” but Mr. Trump does not say how they could be improved. The Islamic State must be destroyed, but the candidate offers no strategy for doing so. Eleven million undocumented immigrants must be deported, but Mr. Trump does not tell us how he would accomplish this legally or practically.
‘What the candidate does offer is a series of prejudices and gut feelings, most of them erroneous. Allies are taking advantage of the United States. Immigrants are committing crimes and stealing jobs. Muslims hate America. In fact, Japan and South Korea are major contributors to an alliance that has preserved a peace of enormous benefit to Americans. Immigrants commit fewer crimesthan native-born Americans and take jobs that no one else will. Muslims are the primary victims of Islamist terrorism, and Muslim Americans, including thousands who have served in the military, are as patriotic as anyone else […]
‘Mr. Trump campaigns by insult and denigration, insinuation and wild accusation: Ted Cruz’s father was involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy; Hillary Clinton may be guilty of murder; Mr. Obama is a traitor who wants Muslims to attack. The Republican Party has moved the lunatic fringe onto center stage, with discourse that renders impossible the kind of substantive debate upon which any civil democracy depends […]
‘The party’s failure of judgment leaves the nation’s future where it belongs, in the hands of voters. Many Americans do not like either candidate this year . We have criticized the presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, in the past and will do so again when warranted. But we do not believe that she (or the Libertarian and Green party candidates, for that matter) represents a threat to the Constitution. Mr. Trump is a unique and present danger.’

His supporters won't care from what I have seen.

Unfortunately, Tennyson, you are correct. Trump is scary but the remote possibility that he could become the president of the U. S. and a world leader is so frightening that it is difficult to even fathom it. He's appealing to a less educated, much less informed and angry electorate our hope is that enough come to their senses and realize what a hate-filled, naricissistic, phony their candidate really is.

Nothing is going to deter the hard core Trumpers.
The fight will be for the people just starting to pay attention to the race.

Drumpf has already unleashed a steady stream of insinuating indictments of Kaine through his Twitter account. He has named him "Corrupt Kaine" for supposedly accepting gifts, bribes, and kickbacks in Virginia. These charges have already been debunked as false and without basis, but that doesn't stop Drumpf nor does it deter him from his campaign of negativity . . . through twitter for god's sake. What is he . . . A junior high schooler jealous of a classmate? What a juvenile imbecile . . . And he is a major party's candidate for president! Another thing he attacked Kaine for, again on twitter, was his support for the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). Kaine did support this trade deal. Do you know who else was a strident supporter of the TPP? If you guessed Mike Pence, you would be correct. So, in Drumpf's eagerness to trash Hillary's choice for VP, he also dumped on his own running mate.
This is the kind of irrational, grade school, open mouth, insert foot, do not engage brain before saying something stupid campaign, administered through twitter that we can expect from Drumpf. That may be acceptable if your name is Kardashian, but not for someone seeking the highest political position in the U.S.
Jeez, I hope the people out there in the twitter universe come to their senses prior to going into the voting booth and pulling the handle. I can't imagine a world with president Drumpf making rational decisions, initiating national policies, or negotiating with leaders of other nations of the world while trashing them with a tweet. What is wrong with that guy! Much more, what is wrong with the people that buy in to his gloom & doom, bigoted, mysogynistic, xenophobic, juvenile name calling, negative world view? I just don't get it.
Trump goes on attack against Clinton running mate Tim Kaine; Democratic delegates weigh in on pick
WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump’s campaign already has a nickname for Hillary Clinton’s new running mate: “Corrupt Kaine.”
The Trump campaign calls Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine “ethically challenged,” citing a Politico report that he accepted $160,000 in gifts from 2001 to 2009, when he was Virginia’s lieutenant governor and governor.
Trump’s senior communications adviser Jason Miller says “the Status Quo ticket of Clinton-Kaine wants us to believe in a rigged system that enriches them at your expense.”
Earlier Friday, Trump sent supporters a text calling Clinton, Kaine and President Barack Obama “the ultimate insiders.”
Clinton announced Friday night that Kaine would join her ticket. The running mates will campaign together in Miami on Saturday.
Meanwhile, delegates to the Democratic National Convention are giving mostly positive reviews to Hillary Clinton’s choice for vice president, saying he will appeal to moderates but do little to soothe disenchanted Bernie Sanders supporters.
Kaine is receiving praise for his wide-ranging experience, even as many delegates acknowledge he won’t generate the level of enthusiasm or party unity as a progressive or a first-ever Latino pick. Sanders delegates in particular had hoped for the selection of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who aligns more closely with Sanders on positions such as regulating Wall Street.
Sanders endorsed Clinton last week.
Clinton superdelegate Katie Naranjo says that while Kaine may seem like a “conventional choice,” he will balance the ticket well for the general election.

If you missed Kaine's speech today is was phenomenal. Not only is he a powerful speaker he has all the successful experiences in his life that Drump could only wish for. Kaine's description of his family growing up in Kansas, his experience with the Jesuits in Honduras, his time as mayor of a predominately black, southern city where his own children attended city public schools; governor of Virginia who took on the redlining real estate and insurance companies and best of all--who took on the NRA, located in northern Virginia. He tackled the cigarette companies in his own tobacco-growing state. The list goes on and on, making the Drump family look like the rich, private-schooled, socially-schooled, shallow nothings they really are. Do not miss an opportunity to hear Tim Kaine speak.

Nothing but babble from the elites of the Washington Post who have made very clear that they will do anything to destroy Trump's run for president. They have assigned 20 reporters to spin vile stories when ever and how ever they can. All you will get from the Post will be biased stories for one purpose destroy at all cost. Trump! Guess what no one cares what the post prints. Their credibility is zilch!

No you are mixed up a bit tennyson....
It's the Clinton supporters who are so blind that they do not see that Clinton has disqualified herself from serving as president after she for years put our national security at risk by placing highly classified materiel on her home brew server. And then when confronted with this she lied time after time after time for over a year to the press and the American public. She spined lies that were unbelievable. Finally the FBI told us the truth. She lied!
She can not be trusted with classified material ever again! Never. But Clinton supporters can't see she is disqualified because of her own actions.

Even with the taint, Clinton is a far better candidate than Trump.
