Turning NATO Into a Racket

"During a 45-minute conversation, Trump explicitly raised new questions about his commitment to automatically defend NATO allies if they are attacked, saying he would first look at their contributions to the alliance".

Is Donald Trump demanding "protection" money from our NATO allies? "Hey, you better pay up, otherwise you could have, you know, an accident. Then whattaya gonna do?"

Let's add NATO to the list of things that Mr. Trump is ignorant about. We don't support the democracies of Europe as a favor. We decided long ago that it was in our own interests to prevent Soviet (and now Russian) totalitarianism from dominating the continent. NATO is a collective defense that makes US safer too.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Turning NATO Into a Racket

Indeed.
I think that one could argue that NATO has been one of the most successful defense alliances in modern history.
But, do the angry people understand that?
