Let all things #RNCinCLE be found here.
A fun afternoon on Day 1. A mini revolt squashed by the new Trump establishment.
I recommend going to CSPAN for coverage. Better than cable news and you get to enjoy the pro-Trump CSPAN callers, which is always fun.
Something to look forward tonight, beside Scott Baio is the Melania Trump intro, which is being produced by Mark Burnett of 'Survivor' and 'The Apprentice' fame.

Thanks for the reminder, Lager, I always forget CSPAN.

I've been watching on and off. More fun than humans deserve. One Republican governor called Trump supporters 'brown shirts'. When questioned, the guy said he considers Trump to be a fascist and followers of fascist leadership are 'brown shirts'.

Great fun. I love the fact that Trump, the Pirate, now has an "establishment" that squashes dissent.
A Rebel becomes a conservative the day after the revolution.
The performance by Patricia Smith, who lost a son in Benghazi was just sad. They never should have put that poor, unhinged woman on a stage. Pure exploitation. A disgrace.
And then there's this. Melania liked Michelle Obama's 2008 speech so much that she decided to give it.
Melania Trump's speech plagiarizes parts of Michelle Obama's
(CNN)At least one passage in Melania Trump's speech Monday night at the Republican National Convention plagiarized from Michelle Obama's address to the Democratic National Convention in 2008.
Side-by-side comparisons of the transcripts show the text in Trump's address following, nearly to the word, the first lady's own from the first night of the Democratic convention in Denver nearly eight years ago.

The fact her speech writer plagiarized Michelle Obama's speech from 2008 is the talk of the town right now. Well, when you're out of ideas simply borrow someone else's I guess.

I'm looking forward to the SNL sketch on Melania's speech.

How about Rudy Guiliani, who appeared a bit unhinged last night?
I agree that the the RNC was filled with personal tragedies, like Ms. Smith's, that was being perpetrated for political gain. To hear the speeches, you'd think every drunk driver who killed someone in the U.S. was an illegal immigrant.
Unfortunately, we'll see the same model used at the DNC as Michael Brown's mom will be giving a speech in Philly next week.
I did find it ironic that the very first speech of the night was by a fellow reality show star (the Duck Dynasty guy).
I laughed at Trump's WWE style entrance to introduce Melania.
Of course, the Trump campaign stumbles over itself by plagiarizing Michelle Obama's speech, which is a shame because I thought Melania did a pretty good job. Although I find it hard to believe that a gorgeous woman with her tale of struggling through the world of international fashion connects with the independent female swing voter, but what do I know.

Yea, a touching immigration story of a glamorous model jet setting her way to America.
My grandparents lived it up in steerage of a stinking old ship.
So, yea, I feel a real connection.

I seriously do sorta feel bad for Melania though. Because the Trump campaign is essentially a disorganized mess that allowed this to happen, she's going to get this undeserved blowback from the media.
