Donald Trump praises Saddam Hussein for killing terrorists ‘so good’
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Donald Trump praised Saddam Hussein at a campaign rally on Tuesday, embracing the dictator who oppressed Iraq for more than 30 years, aggressively suppressed dissent in his country and was widely considered one of the leading enemies of the United States."Saddam Hussein was a bad guy. Right? He was a bad guy, really bad guy.
But you know what he did well? He killed terrorists. He did that so good. They didn't read them the rights -- they didn't talk, they were a terrorist, it was over,"
There is only one thing wrong with Trump's statement; it isn't true.
Hussein didn't kill terrorists, he encouraged them. He was, in fact, a terrorist himself.
In reality, Hussein's regime was declared by the UN to be a state sponsor of terrorism. In fact Saddam Hussein's regime paid "bounty" money to the families of suicide bombers who attacked Israelis, among other crimes.
Hussein was good at killing people. In 1988 he killed about 5,000 Kurds, including women and children with a poison gas attack on their village.
This is the man Donald Trump praises.
"Terrorists" killed by Saddam Hussein, in Halabja.
He didn't read them their rights,,,,,,,,,,
The Halabbja Chemical attack was part of the The Anfal campaign which began in 1986 and lasted until 1989. The Anfal campaign included the use of ground offensives, aerial bombing, systematic destruction of settlements, mass deportation, firing squads, and chemical warfare.
Thousands of civilians were killed during the anti-insurgent campaigns stretching from the spring of 1987 through the fall of 1988. The attacks were part of a long-standing campaign that destroyed approximately 4,500 Kurdish and at least 31 Assyrian villages in areas of northern Iraq and displaced at least a million of the country's estimated 3.5 million Kurdish population. Amnesty International collected the names of more than 17,000 people who had "disappeared" during 1988
