Some Gay Voters Say It's 'Dangerous' to Come Out for Trump

Some Gay Voters Say It's 'Dangerous' to Come Out for Trump

Following Sunday's mass shooting at an Orlando gay bar, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has voiced - and tweeted - his support for the LGBTQ community. And some in the community have expressed their support for Trump."He's the most pro-gay nominee that the party has ever had for president," according to Gregory T. Angelo, president of the Log Cabin Republicans, an organization for LGBTQ people and straight allies who support the GOP.A number of gay men who have decided to throw their support behind Trump told NBC OUT it has not been an easy road.

Juan Hernandez, a gay and Latino member of the Log Cabin Republicans, said his support led to physical violence by anti-Trump protesters at a rally in San Jose. Images of the attack and his bloodied clothes went viral."This is politics. Debate is OK," Hernandez said. "When you start getting violent and throwing out derogatory terms, that's not OK."Hernandez, who switched to the GOP after realizing his views outside of LGBTQ issues were more conservative, said he was a target even before the rally in San Jose. Other members of the LGBTQ and Latino communities, he said, have singled him out for his Trump support. "They'll email me or send me messages. They say that I'm a sellout," he explained.

Eric, a 25-year-old gay Marine Corps veteran, was a Trump supporter before the Orlando shooting, but he said the attack - and the dangers he believes "radical Islam" poses to the gay community - has reinforced his support."Donald Trump has taken charge," he said." I'm gonna go for his stance on immigration and rebuilding the military."But while Eric is a vocal Trump supporter, he declined to provide his last name due to fear of violence or "doxxing," the malicious publication of a private citizen's personal information online."When you put your name out on a national level as supporting someone who attracts that much vitriol and disgust, you're putting yourself up for doxxing ... Especially for someone like me who's considered a 'traitor,'" added Eric, who is a member of LGBTrump, an online network for LGBTQ people who support the GOP presidential hopeful.

So will gay Republicans be wearing Trump 2016 t-shirts and "Make America Great Again" hats at LGBTQ Pride events this year? Eric said it's unlikely."It's easy to come out of the closet," he said. "It's dangerous to come out as a Trump supporter."

Yea, I'm sure it's fear of attack that is hampering Trump support among gays.
What malarkey!

Don't believe your lying eyes!
"My nose is broken. I have bruises and scratches all over. I got knocked in the head a lot," Santa Clara's Juan Hernandez, 38, told me. He suffered a mild concussion. That's the price Hernandez paid for attending the infamous Donald Trump rally in San Jose last week at which protesters were seen burning flags and Trump hats, pelting a supporter with an egg and mobbing people who were doing what civics teachers tell students citizens are supposed to do.

For his trouble, Hernandez was called names, beaten and bloodied. For dessert, he got to hear politicians suggest it was the fault of his candidate that thugs beat him up. When liberals are on the receiving end, this is known as blaming the victim.Hernandez does not fit the stereotype of a Trump supporter. He is gay (and a proud member of Log Cabin Republicans) with Mexican roots.

He likes Trump's aggressive way of talking, although he thinks the billionaire could be a bit more refined as, for example, when Trump criticized the "Mexican" judge presiding over a lawsuit against Trump University. He knows Democrats who don't like that he's Republican. Now that he's pro-Trump, Hernandez confided, "I have more people against me than I did when I came out as gay."

Real clear politics . . . Excellent biased viewpoint.

"Patrick Stack of Time magazine has described the site's commentary section as "right-leaning".[15] The site has been described as being run by conservatives, and containing "opinion pieces from multiple media sources".[16] In 2009 RealClearPolitics was described as a weblog "in the conservative pantheon" by Richard Davis."[17][18]

"In an interview with the conservative magazine Human Events, McIntyre (one of the site's founders)described the philosophy behind the Web site as based on "freedom" and "common-sense values". Said Bevan, "We think debate on the issues is a very important thing. We post a variety of opinions". He further stated, "we have a frustration all conservatives have", which is "the bias in media against conservatives, religious conservatives, [and] Christian conservatives"."[3]

It's a bit much watching Trump apologists wrap themselves in victimhood.
Donald Trump, I'd like to punch that guy (a heckler) in the mouth.
That Donald Trump.
Trump, who offered to pay the legal expenses of a "fan" who sucker punched a guy being led out of a Trump rally.
Yea, that Donald Trump.
Stop whining.
