Faith Without Works

As we gather to pray for the Orlando victims:

Faith Without Works Is Dead
What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?  If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Faith Without Works

The counterpoint is the visitation of Jesus to the sisters Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42).   Martha was the "activist", scurrying about doing many things--many very good things, like readying the table.  Mary merely sat at Jesus' feet and listened to Him.

There is a danger--particularly for those heavily involved in relief ministries--of becoming so absorbed in doing the work of Christ (being Marthas) that we fail to check in with the boss.
