Shooting at Orlando Nightclub Kills About 20, Police Say

Shooting at Orlando Nightclub Kills About 20, Police Say

About 20 people were killed and at least 42 were wounded when a gunman armed with an assault-style rifle, a handgun and possibly an explosive device opened fire inside a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla., at about 2 a.m. Sunday, Police Chief John Mina said.

The police classified the attack as a “terror incident.” Local and federal authorities were investigating, and the F.B.I. set up a hotline for tips.

The police and the federal authorities said they were pursuing several angles in the terrorism investigation, both overseas and in the United States.

The gunman was not from the Orlando area and was organized and well-prepared, the police said.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick deletes "reap what you sow" tweet after mass shooting at LGBT club

A "reap what you sow" tweet from Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick that went out hours after approximately 50 people were killed at a Florida LGBT nightclub has been deleted amid backlash.
At precisely 7 a.m. Sunday Dan Patrick tweeted a photo with the words of Galatians 6:7. The verse reads, "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows."

The Twitterverse circled the tweet, commenting that it was inappropriate and insensitive considering the context of the day's events. The Texas Democratic Party called for Patrick to apologize.

Nothing to see here, just radical Islam doing its thing.

I don't think that the families of these victims would appreciate such a flippant reaction to this atrocity.

It's not a flippant reaction, it's reality.

You are displaying a firm grasp of the obvious.
Why? Do you think that anyone here would defend a terrorist act, or has a positive view of radical islamic terrorists?

Perhaps you could offer something more substantial.

Why are you asking me for answers? I'm just stating the obvious, just like you did with your original post.

OK.
You don't like terrorists.
Me neither.
Anything else?

No, you? Did I imply that I had anything else?

You started the topic and haven't yet expressed your thoughts.

No. Not at all.

Actually, the crime begs for a thoughtful discussion of how to combat terrorist acts on "soft" targets that are loosely organized, if organized at all,  by formal groups. That is a process that the nation's leaders and populace would be wise to engage in.  As one might imagine, it is a daunting challenge demanding serious thought.
