So much for Global Warming as Obama's # 1 National Security issue.
Trump vows to undo Obama's climate agenda in appeal to oil sector
BISMARCK, N.D. (Reuters) - Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, promised on Thursday to roll back some of America's most ambitious environmental policies, actions that he said would revive the ailing U.S. oil and coal industries and bolster national security.
Among the proposals, Trump said he would pull the United States out of the U.N. global climate accord, approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada and rescind measures by President Barack Obama to cut U.S. emissions and protect waterways from industrial pollution."Any regulation that's outdated, unnecessary, bad for workers or contrary to the national interest will be scrapped and scrapped completely,"
Trump told about 7,700 people at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Bismarck, the capital of oil-rich North Dakota. "We're going to do all this while taking proper regard for rational environmental concerns."It was Trump's first speech detailing the energy policies he would advance if elected president. He received loud applause from the crowd of oil executives.Trump slammed both rivals in his speech, saying their policies would kill jobs and force the United States "to be begging for oil again" from Middle East producers."It's not going to happen. Not with me," he said.

Trump is a fool.
Such pandering is a disgrace

Did he cover exactly how he's going to make sure the U.S. isn't "forced to go begging for oil again from Middle East producers"?
Is he going to force the drillers in the U.S. to uncap the wells they shut off when the price of oil goes down? Is he going to force the refiners to update their facilities and keep them operating at maximum capacity regardless of the world price of crude? Is he going to force those refineries to maximize usage, production, and efficiencies to deal with the influx of Canadian tar sands petroleum for the benefit of domestic consumers? Is he going to end the false price increases due to changeover from winter to summer blend and vice-versa? Is he going to force oil companies to service the requirements of the demand of domestic needs before shipping their products overseas to sell at a higher price? Is he going to attempt to end the manipulation of prices by commodity traders that benefits only the profits of those trading entities to the detriment of consumers? Just what are his plans? Has he identified any of the problems and structured programs that will invoke solutions?
Or is he just going to talk out of both sides of his mouth (or mostly his buttocks) about vague agendas, ill thought out plans, and bogus programs with no viable plans to initiate viable programs that merely pander to the audience he is courting?
I'll say he's doing the latter because that's all he is capable of doing.

The statement is a misrepresentation that many make about Obama's statements on climate change. The implication is that it is our Nations number one National Security Issue.
What was ACTUALLY said was in relation to the future of our planet and what will be the most critical problem. People have predicted for years that climate change (man made or not) could likely lead to global wars over food and potable water (As a modern day example of this, it doesn't take too much to imagine India with a population of 1.2 Billion and nuclear weapons winding up in a war for water given their current problems with the same)
“Today, there is no greater threat to our planet than climate change.”
“No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change.”
“It is indeed one of the biggest threats facing our planet today.”
He may be right or wrong, but at least use the context that it was delivered with.

Bravo!
Of course, that might be an expectation of intellectual honesty that some choose not to meet.

So, what are we so excited about here? Oh yea, Mr Trump went before a trade conference, and told an interest group,,,,,, exactly what they wanted to hear.
Well, so much for the anti-politician guy who tells it like it is.
This looks like politics as usual to me.
The plain speaking populist is willing to ignore scientific evidence and expose the American people to risk of environmental degradation, in order to allow corporations unfettered access to increase their record profits even further, and to pander to some poor folks who have been conditioned to be hostile to the environment just because they want to anger political opponents.
Kowtowing to the oil companies. Man that is soooooo new, radical, and anti-establishment!
And, Trump is willing to suspend free market economics in order to prop up the coal industry.
What's next, a bailout for the makers of 8-track tapes?

No. It's just talk.
Unless someone finds some miracle deposit of oil in the US we will still have to 'go begging' for oil.
Just like Bush Jr and his Oliver Twist moment: "Please sir, may I have some oil?"

Indeed, it's just talk.
You go before an interest group and tell them exactly what they want to hear.
You make the problem sound easy.
This is the transformative straight talker I've been hearing about?
Sounds more like politics as usual. Pander and spin.

Trump is missing the whole point in energy. North Dakota USED to be booming with oil production and its then filling the State coffers. Not so any more AND the answer is NOT more drilling. Even the "drill, baby, drill" girl's (Palin) state is reeling from low oil prices.
