Role reversal: GOP unites behind Trump, Democrats in disarray

http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/26/opinions/democrats-republicans-role-reversal-opinion-zelizer/index.html

It is fascinating how much has changed in the past month in regards to the Presidential election.  I'm sure we will see some more wild swings in events with these lackluster cast of candidates.

The thing that caught my attention from this article, and is the first I heard this, was the following:

Sanders warned that the convention could be "messy," adding, "Democracy is not always nice and gentle."

What does he mean by "messy" and democracy not being "nice and gentle"?  It kind of sounds like a veiled threat to me, either give me and my supporters what we want, or else.

Like I said before, Bernie started off this election as a statesmen, but he certainly is behaving like one now.  The thought of power can be very intoxicating.

Actually, it's not so unusual.
Messy Primary. Lots of angst.
Then a candidate wins, and the party comes together behind him.
It wasn't what the media was expecting, or hoping for. But, it isn't something new under the sun.

I agree with your statements about Bernie.
I'm less impressed with him than others.
I think that the guy, who has been a political curiousity most of his life, is intoxicated by his new found popularity.
He isn't concenred about the democratic party, because he isn't a democrat.

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Actually, I'm a bit surprised the established R-Tribers are so willing to unite behind this guy.  All about the team, I guess.

I think very soon Sanders will snuggle up to Clinton. Who cares about Wall Street paying her millions for speeches. Who cares she voted for the war. Who cares she showed pathetic judgement in setting up a private e-mail server in her house and then time after time lied about it. Remember she went to Wall street and told them you better behave. OK we all believe that. Sanders will embrace her.

Of course, there is also a shared set of values, caring about policies that protect working people, reproductive rights, clean air and water, accessible healthcare. Bernie won't get caught up in the sordid stuff her opponents dwell on.
He will put the country first

Common, what issues, positions, visions, and solutions that draw you to Donald Trump?  Just curious.

I don't know about that Common, Bernie seems hell bent on making this as contentious as possible.  His rhetoric the last couple of weeks has only intensified.  It will be interesting to see if they come together or we have a repeat or worse of what happened at the Nevada state convention

Look at what some people have said about Trump and now are on board the Trump train.

Remember what Graham said?

I don't understand how people say what they say and then buddy up to the very person they were trashing?

I'd like to see an issue centered argument for a trump presidency. What will he do and HOW will he do it?

Thus far, every argument I've seen gives scant and nonspecific treatment of issues, and quickly devolves into a laundry list of complaints and personal attacks on Clinton and Obama.

Any specific proposals, like the wall, or devaluing treasuries, are impractical, silly, or dangerous

Very true Common.  My guess is Bernie will be contentious and cantankerous up to and including at least part of the convention, then he will start to suck up to Clinton like the Republicans are doing with Trump
