Dead heat: Trump, Clinton tied in 3 swing-state polls The poll shows

Very early and just a quick snapshot of the general election.  Buckle-up!

Dead heat: Trump, Clinton tied in 3 swing-state polls

The poll shows close races in Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident,”  former vice president Biden said during a campaign event in Texas on Monday. "All men and women created by — you know, you know, the thing.”

A poll at this point is interesting, I guess.
But I'd rather see discussion about what the two candidates would actually do if elected.

Our society, and media focus almost entirely on the "horse race" aspect of elections, and very little on their actual consequence, IMO

There are SO MANY things that Mr Trump is actually dead wrong on that could impact each and every one of us that I could NEVER vote for him.

His International stances may sound nice but are totally unworkable and couple that with his disastrous recent economic stances on sovereign debt would be a disaster for most of our 401Ks as well as the market in general. See the Exchance Topic http://theexchange.boardhost.com/viewtopic.php?pid=16171#p16171

He is one scary dude with his thinking. Defaults and bullying may work in his private dealings, but heaven help us if he uses that as a President.

HOPEFULLY the actual details of his policies will open peoples eyes before it is too late !

I simply don't understand why so many people would select or gravitate toward authoritarian style leadership in a democratic society ............. or any society for that matter.  I don't get it, I really don't.

Somebody explain that to me.

The strongman offers the allusion of easy deliverance from the fears of the people, and a return to an idealized past.  If he has to fan those fears first, to create scapegoats, well, all the better.

When faced with decades of stagnating wages, intractable conflicts and gridlock in government, it is inevitable that the People should be hungry for change.

It is not, however, inevitable that all of the people will be wise.

According to Qunnipiac they should:
FLORIDA: Clinton 43 - Trump 42; Sanders 44 - Trump 42
OHIO: Clinton 39 - Trump 43; Sanders 43 - Trump 41
PENNSYLVANIA: Clinton 43 - Trump 42; Sanders 47 - Trump 41

But, in reality, how worthwhile are all these polls this far in advance of the actual election?

I am surprised the race is so close in Florida, but PA and OH do not surprise me at all.  The Dems dreaming of an easy election victory in November may be in for a big surprise.  Clinton embodies the very things many of the people who are gravitating towards Trump despise.

With the above sentence, Goose nailed it.

When things have been bad and ineffective for so long, people will look to something completely different and someone with a strong personality promising they can fix it.  They like the fact that he doesn't speak like a typical politician, because those typical politicians have been ineffective.  That is why they don't care what he says or that he contradicts himself, they just like the fact that he isn't behaving like a typical politician and they think that will make him different and maybe actually do something.

I wonder if that's what the German people thought during the depression in Europe in the mid-1930's.
