Pa. unclaimed property: Claim what's yours

Maybe Great Aunt Betty left you a small fortune?

Pa. unclaimed property: Claim what's yours

Did you know that one in 10 Pennsylvania residents have unclaimed property just waiting for them to claim it?That's according to the Pennsylvania Treasury, which keeps a database of unclaimed property online. The treasury helps people recovery their property free of charge.

To find out if you have property to claim, use the searchable database at www.patreasury.gov/claim.

Thanks to your posting and a few clicks looks like Mrs. T will be recovering a bank account dormant since when she was in college....and don't ask how long ago that was!

Super!  I found a York High classmate's name in the list several years ago--proceeds from an insurance policy I think.  She lived in a senior--not one of the better ones--residence in York off minimum SSA.  She had no way to prove her residency at the time the policy was cashed in many years ago, most likely one of her parent's.  I took a photo of her spot in the Tattler showing both name & address at the time and helped her send the info into the state.  They accepted the yearbook photo as proof of her address back then and she received what I believe wasn't a too large sum of money.  I've seen a few other's name in the list but so did others at the same time so none of them needed my help.  It does pay to check each time the list is published because new info arises from time to time.  I'm always surprised at the number of well-known businesses in the York area whose names appear.

Excellent! Glad you found some long lost money. This is the second time this has happened. Some years ago I sent contact information to my Uncle and he found that there was some type of insurance money payable to him.

I am still looking for that missing money.

flowergirl,
Great job in helping your friend obtaining her over due money. It does pay to check from time to time.
