Police: Man, 25, wearing animal outfit shot by police outside Baltimore TV station
A man who walked into a Baltimore television station wearing an animal jumpsuit with a suspected explosive underneath was shot by police Thursday afternoon.Three officers fired at the suspect, who was hit at least three times, police said.
The unidentified 25-year-old man from Howard County was listed in serious but stable condition and is expected to survive, police said.Police spokesman T.J. Smith said officers were called to the FOX 45 offices, at 2000 West 41st Street in North Baltimore, about 1:20 p.m. for a person in the lobby wearing "some sort of outfit."
He displayed wires and other things in his jacket that appeared to a security guard as a possible explosive, he said, and a vehicle outside the station was on fire with a rag inside the gas tank.An investigation revealed that the red flotation device he wore underneath his jumpsuit was made of up of candy bars wrapped in foil connected by wires. "It does not appear the device was capable of actual explosions," Smith said.
Police said they knew of no motive for the man's behavior.After 4 p.m., police moved in on the man, used a bomb squad robot to remove his clothes and device, and loaded him into an armored vehicle. The vehicle then drove off to the hospital.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident,” former vice president Biden said during a campaign event in Texas on Monday. "All men and women created by — you know, you know, the thing.”

Unfortunately these are the tough decisions that our police are faced with each and every day. The man claimed to have a bomb, but what winds up being a person that obviously has mental problems and the bomb is nothing but a fake.
Although the story is bizarrely funny, it does highlight the tough life and death decisions that police have to make.
