Consistent Surge of People Crossing Illegally
Read the full story here:
BROWNSVILLE – The number of people crossing the border illegally is on the rise. The Border Patrol chief said the number of people coming across is consistent with the surge two years ago.Chief Patrol Agent and Commander of the South Texas Corridor Manuel Padilla Jr. insisted this time, his agents are better prepared and border security isn’t in jeopardy. However, some people don’t agree.
More than 80,000 people crossed the border illegally since October. It includes more unaccompanied children and family members from Central America and Mexico.
Border Patrol Union President Chris Cabrera’s findings are different. He said Central Americans have found the way in and they’ll keep coming.“Until we start enforcing the laws, they’re going to continue to exploit the loopholes in the system,” he said.He said the people from Mexico crossing illegally aren’t being caught.

How do they know that "more than 80,000 people crossed the border illegally since October"?
Was somebody standing there counting them as they crossed? Or were they required to file through turnstiles equipped with a counting mechanism?

Actually the border is completely secure! Just ask the Obama administration.
That why we have about 12 million illegal aliens in the country now. No problem here.

Well, we could follow the Reagan plan and simply grant amnesty to them. Quiz question: Who's administration deported more illegal immigrants than any other?
If the USA is really serious about addressing the issue, why not come down hard on those people, businesses, and corporations that hire them?

I am with you Fred!! The powers that are in change (republican and democratic) Want the cheap labor.
Go after the people who hire the illegals! No jobs and people will stop coming into the country illegally.
We do need strong LEGAL immigration. That helps to keep our country healthy.

The current problem are largely made up of children and small families fleeing the horrid conditions in Central America where children are being bought, sold, and killed. They are NOT what Trump portray, but his story plays a lot better to the people not willing to understand the issue.
As far as illegals taking American jobs, there has always been a relatively easy fix, but employers like it the way it is.

What has happened to the recent news stories that the illegal immigration via Mexico has slowed down? I assume people coming from Central America also come thru Mexico. Who determines an immigrant is from what country if most come thru Mexico?

And yet no one has proposed prison sentences for employers.
I wonder why?

I'll say it's due to lawmakers not wanting to be labeled anti-business, but I would surmise the real reason is that they don't want to anger any prospective donors to their campaigns.

Ditto to what rongone said, and I'll go a step farther and throw much of the immigration flap in with abortion rights, gay marriage, bible reading in schools, etc., along with other 'hot button' issues that get people's knickers knotted and worked up over. Politicians know what buttons to push to get enough people to vote for them so they can keep their job. If any of them actually solved a hot button issue, they'd have to find something else to fire up their base.
