So if Trump wins the nomination but then loses the Presidential bid badly (mind you this is just for discussion rather than a prediction), what will happen to the GOP. Would they re-group and look for some common ground with the groups that have become somewhat disenfranchised from them or what ?
Guess we could say the same thing on the opposite (D-side) as well but at least right now they don't seem to be nearly as fractured. That might be quite different after their convention, but I am guessing NOT.
Anyway, what do you think ?

I could see a new party emerging in the next 10 to 20 years to take over the republicans as one of the two major parties, at least at the federal level, maybe sooner. The same will happen with the democrats eventually as well. I think the success of Trump and Sanders is showing the establishments that there is a huge, growing sector of voters who are sick of the same old politicians who only say what people want to hear and never deliver on their promises. If the establishments will not accept these people and put up candidates who represent their views, new major parties will form.

It's all up to the voters. How much faith do you put in the voters and our ability to differentiate between partisan rhetoric, purely emotional issues, and facing the realities of important issues that will have a direct effect on how we live our lives?

Either that or the two groups (if they are smart) will morph into something more in line with what people want. Some of the dissatisfaction (beside economics) is just for the fact that nothing gets done. Somewhere along the line IF politics cannot understand give and take, it really won't matter too much who runs and who gets elected.
