I understand the information in your post, Common, but how should we address the fact many of these people are looking for employment and somebody is hiring them. I think there are plenty of business owners are just fine with the status quo for the reasons rongone posted.
E-verify
U.S. law requires companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in the United States – either U.S. citizens, or foreign citizens who have the necessary authorization. This diverse workforce contributes greatly to the vibrancy and strength of our economy, but that same strength also attracts unauthorized employment.E-Verify is an Internet-based system that allows businesses to determine the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States. E-Verify is fast, free and easy to use – and it’s the best way employers can ensure a legal workforce.
You are correct many want things left as they are. Cheap labor! They are violating the law when they hire illegal alien and should be prosecuted to the full extend of the law.
So the answer is simple.
Well, NOT so simple as each state has implemented (or not) its own version of E-Verify. Even the border states are NOT particularly stringent in either their requirements or punishment for violators. Wonder why that is ? Hmm !

Let's face it, are lots of Americans benefiting from the current situation.
It isn't what they make it seem on the campaign trail

Don't know if Americans are benefiting overall or not - there are various debates about that whole thing.
ONE THING FOR SURE - - - companies that hire the immigrants are generally making $$$ by doing so.

BTW, I had seen an interesting stats over the years about the SS Admin and what it receives from illegal alien. Here is just one recap from 2010 from the SS Admin itself with the supporting PDF document.
While unauthorized immigrants worked and contributed as much as $13 billion in payroll taxes to the OASDI program in 2010, only about $1 billion in benefit payments during 2010 are attributable to unauthorized work. Thus, we estimate that earnings by unauthorized immigrants result in a net positive effect on Social Security financial status generally, and that this effect contributed roughly $12 billion to the cash flow of the program for 2010. We estimate that future years will experience a continuation of this positive impact on the trust funds.

Jeez . . . And congress (Scott Perry) rails about illegal immigrants and how the SS fund is going down the pooper . . . But he doesn't mention this positive cash flow nor does he admit that the legislature has a habit of raiding the SS fund to finance unfunded projects (mostly military spending), and 'forgets' to reimburse those embezzled funds. Too bad the excess contributed by illegal aliens doesn't balance out the 'borrowing' by our elected representatives.
