Re: Are you ready for this weekend's icy blast?

Super glad to be in a much warmer climate for another 2 weeks. Miss York, but NOT the cold.

Stay warm everyone !

Re: Are you ready for this weekend's icy blast?

We received about and inch and a half of snow last night. It's very light and fluffy. I got the blower out and blew the snow off the driveway and our side walk. Worked pretty good.

The wind has been strong 18 mph gusts and a temp of 15. Wind chill of 0

Re: Are you ready for this weekend's icy blast?

Inch and one half here, also.

Hardly seemed worth the time, the gas, and the cold to scrape it with the blade first thing this morning but now that I look at a driveway that the sun and wind has managed to finish clearing (and drying!) I'm glad I did it.

As for the stove:  A couple of years ago I began investing in old time iron kettles which I fill with hot water.   Every pound of water which evaporates to steam releases 1000 BTU.   The three kettles can easily go through a half gallon to 3/4 gallon of water per hour.   That's 4000-6000 BTU plus a great source of indoor humidity.
