IRS watchdog reveals Lois Lerner missing emails now subject of criminal probe
Read the story here:
The IRS’s inspector general confirmed Thursday it is conducting a criminal investigation into how Lois G. Lerner’s emails disappeared, saying it took only two weeks for investigators to find hundreds of tapes the agency’s chief had told Congress were irretrievably destroyed.Investigators have already scoured 744 backup tapes and gleaned 32,774 unique emails, but just two weeks ago they found an additional 424 tapes that could contain even more Lerner emails, Deputy Inspector General Timothy P. Camus told the House Oversight Committee in a rare late-night hearing meant to look into the status of the investigation.

Lerner began her IRS service in 2001 as Director Rulings and Agreements in the Exempt Organizations function of TEGE. [2] In January 2006, she was selected as Director Exempt Organizations. In this capacity, Lerner led an organization of 900 employees responsible for a broad range of compliance activities, including examining the operational and financial activities of exempt organizations, processing applications for tax exemption, providing direction through private letter rulings and technical guidance and providing customer education and outreach to the exempt community.[3]On May 23rd, 2013 Lerner was placed on administrative leave. Acting IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel selected Ken Corbin as the acting director of the exempt organizations division. Corbin was the deputy director of the submission processing, wage, and investment division.2014 Contempt of CongressIn 2014, Lerner was held in Contempt of Congress in connection with the 2013 IRS controversy.[4][5] The resolution, H.Res. 574, was introduced into the United States House of Representatives on May 7, 2014 by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA).[6] The bill was considered on May 7, 2014, and passed in Roll Call Vote 203 with a vote of 231-187.[6] All of the Republicans voted in favor of the bill, along with six Democrats.[7] The resolution holds Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress for refusing to testify at a congressional hearing.[8] Rep. Steve Stockman filed a motion on July 10, 2014 that, if enacted by the House, would direct congressional police to arrest Lois Lerner for contempt of Congress.[9][10]

I can't follow this plate of spaghetti posted by CS to connect the dots. Arrest her if that makes us all feel good, send it to trial, and see what happens.
Bottomline for me is: If some organization applies for tax exempt status then the IRS should make sure they qualify. If 75% of them are somehow linked to one political tribe or another then 75% of the investigations would focus on that tribe. What's the big deal?

It is clear that Lois Lerner and everyone else involved in the conspiracy to unfairly investigate groups seeking tax exempt status should be publicly flogged, incarcerated for 10 to 20 years, and then turned over to "Jihadi John" to determine their ultimate fate.
SHEESH . . . It seems as though certain members of the house have nothing better to do than investigate the same issues ad nauseum for political gain rather than actually legislate.
If they are really unhappy with the tax regulations, then FIX IT! Maybe they can start by simplifying the whole massively out of control tax code.

Well, you have to have something to do between Benghazi hearings.

The article really so far claims nothing concrete. The IRS IG who is spearheading this only revealed that they uncovered an additional 424 backup tapes. To date they had ALREADY prior to this uncovered 744 backup tapes with over 32,000 documents that had been previously turned over to the previous investigation. The IG so far has stated that they do NOT know if any of the new tapes contain anything different from the previous recoverd backup tapes.
One thing for sure, the R-trip will NOT want to get rid of the IRS at least till this IG completes his investigation !
