Saint Blaise

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.

Re: Saint Blaise

The St. Blaise day blessing is an interesting conflation of customs of the Western Church  and the Orthodox.

From the West comes the Candlemass Day (February 2) of which a blessing with candles may be seen as an extension or continuation.   The crossed candles closely resemble the two crossed candles held by an Orthodox Bshop when he blesses the faithful during a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy.

Thanks for posting the links to the pictures of the lovely church.  From the exterior (only) it looks very Byzantine.

Life is an Orthros.
