If you are in Washington make sure you go to Arlington National Cemetery and visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Sentinels from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment stood their posts in the blizzard at Arlington National Cemetery
The regiment, also known as the Old Guard, is known for guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier no matter what the weather is outside — rain, sleet, or snow.

The Sentinel's Creed *1481/old-guard-snowstorm-04.jpg[/img]
My dedication to this sacred duty is total and whole-hearted.
In the responsibility bestowed on men ever will I falter.
And with dignity and perseverance my standard will remain perfection.
Through the years of diligence and praise and the discomfort of the elements,
I will walk my tour in humble reverence to the best of my ability.
It is he who commands the respect I protect, his bravery that made us so proud.
Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day, alone in the thoughtful peace of night,
this soldier will in honored glory rest under my eternal vigilance.

They are there 24/7 no matter what the circumstances may be. The tombs are never left unguarded.
