So then this is really a non-story. Islamic extremists have used Obama, Bush, Clinton and G.H.W Bush as recruiting tools, so why is it a big deal that they are using Trump, when he doesn't even have any power?
No, I don't think it's a non-story at all.
Hey, extremists may try to use any number of things as recruiting tools.
Outrageous statements by the likely GOP nominee would likely be effective on some level.
Compare his statements about Muslims to those of GWB for instance, and you''l see a huge difference. And, hopefully you'll get what those remarks sound like to foreign audiences.

The media reporting this is just more free publicity for Trump. This is exactly why Trump has the staying power that he does. A lot of Americans will view Islamic extremists using Trump as a recruiting tool as favorable to Trump. It makes it look like Trump is the one that the Islamic terrorists are afraid of.

Maybe so. As I said several posts ago, Trump's gain comes at our expense in my opinion.
BTW, would you suggest that the media just ignore this?
I like to know what's going on in the world.

I wouldn't ignore it, but if they want Trump to go away they should. They keep reporting things like this, giving him free publicity, and then everyone is shocked and in wonder over how Trump is increasing in popularity. They keep feeding him.

How's does a news organization simply not cover the GOP frontrunner?
What he says and does on the campaign trail, as well as the fallout from it, is news.
Trump is the GOP frontrunner.
Also, I think that there is a fallacy in suggesting that the mere fact that Trump gets media attention feeds his popularity. Carson, Walker, Rick perry (in 2008) got plenty of coverage for their dumb remarks. It really hurt them.
There is something new here.

That's the catch 22, they can't ignore him now. But, it was mostly the media's doing in getting Trump into this spot, and now it's too late for them to ignore him. Every article in the past 6 months where they didn't have to write an article or report on Trump, but they did so to try and bring him down, just made him stronger. And now there's a story that's basically saying 'Islamic terrorists really hate Trump', and that actually is a good thing.

Using Trump as a recruiting tool.
