Global Warning: Paris Climate Change Accord is a bureaucratic boondoggle
After two weeks of world leaders opining mindlessly, protesters hecklingspeakers, and participants enjoying lavish French cuisine, bureaucrats agreed to squander billions of dollars to solve a non-existent problem.
[quote888]In a landmark move, 195 nations agreed Saturday evening to adopt an historic pact to halt global warming that for the first time asks all countries to reduce or rein in their greenhouse gas emissions.…In the “Paris agreement,” countries commit to keeping average global temperatures from rising another degree Celsius (1.8 Fahrenheit) between now and 2100, a key demand of poor countries ravaged by rising sea levels and other effects of climate change. They are also committed to limiting the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by human activity to the same levels that trees, soil and oceans can absorb naturally, beginning at some point between 2050 and 2100.
Yet, this landmark pact has no mechanism to punish countries that don’t or can’t contribute toward that goal. The smart set who crafted this accord seem to have used same template as the catastrophic Iranian Nuclear Deal.As an added bonus, there is a one-year “opt out” clause for participants. Climate expert Anthony Watts actually read the deal, and has located a key passage:
[quote888]1. At any time after three years from the date on which this Agreement has entered into force for a Party, that Party may withdraw from this Agreement by giving written notification to the Depositary.2. Any such withdrawal shall take effect upon expiry of one year from the date of receipt by the Depositary of the notification of withdrawal, or on such later date as may be specified in the notification of withdrawal.3. Any Party that withdraws from the Convention shall be considered as also having withdrawn from this Agreement.

It's a bit disingenuous for republicans to complain that the climate change deal has no enforcement provisions when the major reason it has none is that republican lawmakers would have opposed them.
Catch 22.
That's dishonest.
