Looks like the State has a big hill to climb for a convection. Officer Porter was the officer driving the van.
If he is not found guilt not sure how the other officers would be found guilty?
If there is a not guilty verdict in this case there is a good possibility Baltimore could explode again?
Closing argument will probably start Monday.

Prosecution has another terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day; conviction on any charge seems unlikely
Today the defense wrapped up their case in the “Freddie Gray” trial of Baltimore Police Officer William Porter. The jury has been dismissed for the weekend, and closing statements will be completed on Monday. I would not be surprised if the jurors went into deliberations Monday afternoon, or Tuesday at the latest.
In brief, it appears to have been another terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day for the State’s prosecutors. For a detailed analysis of the legal issues in the case, see yesterday’s post: Freddie Gray Trial: Defense Witnesses Further Crush State’s Case. As in our previous posts, the following is based largely on the reporting from the Baltimore Sun.
Officer Porter on trial for involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault, misconduct in office, and reckless endangerment following the in-custody injury and later death of local community drug dealer Freddie Gray. Gray had suffered an 80% cleavage of his spinal cord while traveling in a police van after being arrested, from which injury he would die some days later.
An additional five Baltimore Police Officers face similarly serious charges arising from the incident, all of whom are scheduled to stand trial in coming weeks.

Legal Insurrection, huh?
How do they think a guy gets a fractured cervical spine during a routine transport?

Give it a break... So you don't like the web site? Who cares?
Go read the Baltimore Sun if you don't like this? What happened to your "discussion and conversation B/S you were spouting a few days ago?
Mr. Branca has been following the case and wrote the this post.About: Andrew BrancaAndrew F. Branca is in his third decade of practicing law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He wrote the first edition of the “Law of Self Defense” in 1997, and is currently in the process of completing the fully revised and updated second edition. He began his competitive shooting activities as a youth in smallbore rifle, and today is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and a Life Member and Master-class competitor in multiple classifications in the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA). Andrew has for many years been an NRA-certified firearms instructor in pistol, rifle, and personal protection, and has previously served as an Adjunct Instructor on the Law of Self Defense at the SigSauer Academy in Epping, NH. He holds or has held concealed carry permits for Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Pennsylvania, Florida, Utah, Virginia, and other states. (Let me guess you don't like him because he is in the NRA? And he has a concealed carry permits for Massachusetts. )

Why so angry ?
I just asked what you thought the mechanism of injury was. That IS discussion and conversation.
BTW, why do I care about this guy's resume or his NRA activities?
So, he's a lawyer, and apparently a really good shot.
What relevance does that have?
And legal insurrection. Come on man.

Baltimore braces as first trial in Freddie Gray death closes
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The city of Baltimore braced for a verdict as closing arguments were made Monday in the first of six trials of police officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said business should continue as usual and that people must respect the jury's decision, but the city also opened an emergency operations center as a precaution to help authorities coordinate any necessary response.
