Re: My Fellow Liberals, Don’t Support Obama’s Terror Watch List

I would not make that connection.
Like it or hate it, the No fly list to Nixon's enemy list is apples to oranges.

Not getting the connection, either.  I thought Nixon's 'enemy list' had something to do with his 'political enemies'.  Am I wrong on this?

Re: My Fellow Liberals, Don’t Support Obama’s Terror Watch List

From Wikipedia

"Nixon’s Enemies List" is the informal name of what started as a list of President of the United States Richard Nixon’s major political opponents compiled by Charles Colson, written by George T. Bell (assistant to Colson, special counsel to the White House), and sent in memorandum form to John Dean on September 9, 1971.

The list was part of a campaign officially known as “Opponents List” and “Political Enemies Project.” The list became public knowledge when Dean mentioned during hearings with the Senate Watergate Committee that a list existed containing those whom the president did not like.

The official purpose, as described by the White House Counsel's Office, was to "screw" Nixon's political enemies, by means of tax audits from the Internal Revenue Service, and by manipulating "grant availability, federal contracts, litigation, prosecution, etc.

"Obama's Terror watch list". , Well in the first place it isn't Obama's list.

The Terrorist Screening Database or TSDB is the central terrorist watchlist consolidated by the FBI's Terrorist Screening Center and used by multiple agencies to compile their specific watchlists and for screening.

The TSDB is fed from two primary sources: international terrorist (IT) information from the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment, a central database on known or suspected international terrorists maintained by the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) and domestic terrorist (DT) information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

The No Fly List is a list, created and maintained by the United States government's Terrorist Screening Center (TSC), of people who are not permitted to board a commercial aircraft for travel in or out of the United States. The list has also been used to divert aircraft, not flying to or from the U.S, away from U.S. airspace. The number of people on the list rises and falls according to threat and intelligence reporting. There were 10,000 names on the list in 2011, 21,000 in 2012, and 47,000 in 2013.

The list—along with the Secondary Security Screening Selection, which tags would-be passengers for extra inspection—was created after the September 11 attacks in 2001. The No Fly List, the Selectee List and the Terrorist Watchlist were created by the administration of George W. Bush and retained by the administration of Barack Obama.

So, they seem very dissimilar to me.

Re: My Fellow Liberals, Don’t Support Obama’s Terror Watch List

It's not 'Obama's terror watch list'.

It's a list of names compiled by the DHS in concert with other government security agencies based upon intelligence gathered by those agencies.

Calling it 'Obama's' list is just another way to inject political innuendo into the discussion. If you need to inject a president's name onto the list, call it G.W. Bush's watch list. His administration created the system.
