Please, do answer the question. Whom would you bar from buying a weapon?

If you don't mind, I'm going to jump in here.
First, I agree with Bernie Sanders when he proposed no gun should be distributed, sold, or owned that is not used as an instrument of hunting .................. that goes for magazine clips, lethal capability, etc.
Notice I'm not promoting the banning of guns, just putting a ceiling on the killing power of what is acceptable within the civilian population in a sane society.
I would also require each gun owner take out a liability insurance policy for each weapon just like we do for cars and homes. I would then adopt the suggestions submitted by rongone in an earlier post involving registration, demonstration of proficiency, etc.
I'm a bit exhausted commenting on this topic. If you think there is no relationship between the availability of weaponry and the gun murder rate in America, than I think I'm done. I feel the same way about those who argue about climate change, gravity, evolution, the structure of the universe and earth rotation, molecular theory, and abortion rights.
Carry on.

I do find it interesting how the politics of it all changes over time.
I remember when security trumped the fourth amendment, and if you happened to be put a no-fly or terror watch list, or had your mosque spied on illegally, conservatives said, "Civil Rights be damned! We have to keep the country safe".
And liberals decried the loss civil liberties.
And now we have liberals saying that security trumps due process, and if you accidentally, or wrongly end up on some government list, oh well, we need to keep the country safe.
And now conservatives say the 2nd amendment trumps concerns about security from terrorism in our country.
There is no political honesty anymore. Everything is just a fight to win a news cycle or a twitter argument.
