Re: As Health Care Act Insurance Deadline Nears

My wife went back to work full-time a couple of months ago and I won't lie to you, I'm glad we're out of the individual ACA market.

Re: As Health Care Act Insurance Deadline Nears

I've always been fortunate enough to get coverage through my employer.
I hope to continue to do so until I'm ready for Medicare.

You do realize that when an employer picks up the tab for a private for-profit health insurance plan, it's part of your salary, and thus, you are paying for it anyway.

Re: As Health Care Act Insurance Deadline Nears

Employer-provided health insurance began during WWII when there were strict wage and price controls.

Employers were not permitted to offer raises so insurance was used as an end-run.

Ironic, isn't it, how it comes full circle.

Yes, of course. But, historically you come off much better with the employer's clout behind you.

I understand that, but it doesn't seem fair that three people working fulltime, one for a small company, one for a large company, one self-employed, should be paying different rates for similar policies.

Fair? likely not.
But the history of employer provided health insurance is an accidental one.
