The War on Robert Mueller

Just one month into the job, Special Counsel Robert Mueller has made no public statements accusing Donald Trump of anything.

He has not yet finished hiring staff members or installing a secure, segregated computer network.

Yet Trump surrogates from Fox, to Newt, to Donny Jr are attacking him.  Some of it is rather fantastic. Newt Gingrich accused Mueller (Without offering any supporting evidence, of course) of being part of a "Deep State" conspiracy.

It’s early in the game to begin to impugn the prosecutors.

I can only interpret this as a pre-emptive nuclear strike on the prosecutor's character.

Why?
The only reason that I can think of is that there is wrong-doing, and that Team Trump expects Mueller to find it.

They do NOT expect to be exonerated.
Hey, I don't know what's out there. But Team Trump is acting guilty.

If you’re afraid of what the prosecutors are going to find out, you try to debunk anything they might come up with in advance by attacking them.

Re: The War on Robert Mueller

This is nuts.  First of all, Donald Trump says he is completely innocent of any wrong-doing.  Well, if that's the case, then instead of tweeting and fussing about an investigation, why not let the investigation show he was right?

BTW, still waiting for those tapes Trump said he had to prove that Comey was lying during their one-on-one conversation.

"Mueller is the tip of the deep state spear aimed at destroying or at a minimum undermining and crippling the Trump presidency."
Newt Gingrich.

Judge for yourself.

Robert Mueller
Robert Mueller was the 6th Director of the FBI.
Mueller enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968, attending officer candidate school, Army Ranger School and Army jump school. He then served as an officer leading a rifle platoon of the 3rd Marine Division during the Vietnam War; he eventually became aide-de-camp to 3rd Marine Division's commanding general.[He received the Bronze Star, two Commendation Medals, the Purple Heart and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.

Mueller earned degrees at Princeton, NYU and the University of Virginia.

A Republican, Mueller stood up to a republican president and, along with deputy attorney general James Comey, threatened to resign from office, in March 2004, if the White House overruled a Department of Justice finding that domestic wiretapping without a court warrant was unconstitutional.

Newt Gingrich
Gingrich received deferments from the military during the years of the Vietnam War for being a student and a father.

Newt's present wife (#3) was nominated by Donald Trump to be the US Ambassador to the Vatican.

In 1997 Gingrich became the first Speaker of the House to be disciplined for an ethics violation.

Re: The War on Robert Mueller

Nixon finally was able to fire the Special Investigator looking into him, but I remember how THAT finally worked out !  A word to the wise.
