Business at the gunmaker Smith & Wesson is going gangbusters. On Monday evening, management announced that it was raising its guidance because sales had been unexpectedly strong. For the three months ending January 31, it estimates that it will have $175 million to $180 million in sales, up from its earlier guidance of $150 million to $155 million. This is much higher than the $155 million expected by analysts.Earnings per share is estimated to come in at $0.39 to $0.41, which is way above the previous estimate of $0.27 to $0.29. Analysts were expecting only $0.29.
Their stock yesterday was up 11.08%
Sturm Ruger jumped 2.9%
This on a day when stock overall fell 276 points or 1.6%
Smith & Wesson is up 850% since Obama came into office!

What is your interest?
Do you own stock in S&W?
Do you have anything to offer on gun violence other than gloating like an adolescent about gun sales?
Why are you so excited about gun sales?
Seriously, CS, I think that you've gotten so caught up in "winning", that you have forgotten that gun violence is not a game.
How about a serious discussion about gun violence?

Ha! Well that tells me somebody is doing a good job marketing fear and anxiety and America would become safer if more of us 'good guys' were packing heat. Maybe a few might even be worried there is a black guy in the White House and our next president might be a woman. Yikes!
Anyway, if you feel the need to store up a pile of weapons in your house, go for it. I wish you joy and happiness. The weapon manufacturing industry loves you. If Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders becomes the next president, maybe you should consider buying more.

Are guns sales the thing that we wish to use a measure of progress, CS?
Perhaps a better indicator of "winning" would be to see a decrease in the number of mass shootings?
Or, a decrease in gun crime in Chicago?
I guess it depends on which "game" is important to you

That's a good point is it not? We far and away lead the world in mass murders as shown on a graph I posted on another thread. Shouldn't the real goal be to reduce that number?

Another way to look at it.
The Obama economy has been so strong since he took office that Americans have tons of expendable cash to purchase guns.

Your statement is true as well as the initial statement. Unfortunately the initial statement is based on the fear mongering that the gun lobby is hoping to keep peddling to bolster its sales as well a political pressure based on the same. So far they are doing an excellent job. Fear sells. History has documented this throughout the ages.

A wonderful economy! It's good to have expendable cash!

Did CS just admit that the economy under a democratic President is good?

Hey, drone sales are skyrocketing. A tenfold increase over 2014 sales. Does this mean our economy is thriving? Or, does it mean the government is invading our privacy? Or, does it just mean that a bunch of people bought a new toy for Christmas and by next year it will be laying around in the garage.
