I was posting on a news site, and I had this encounter:

Guy on the Internet: "So, are you a liberal or a conservative?"

Me: "Well, I don't like political labels and ideology. I try to listen to different perspectives, learn as much as I can, and look at actual facts, data, science to help me make up my mind."

Guy on the internet: "So... a liberal."

We live in a time in which decent and otherwise sensible people are surrendering too easily to the hectoring of morons or extremists.
